Church Revival coming to Sterling again

Oak Grove Baptist Church Hosts Friday Night One Loudoun Revival

One Loudoun Revival 2016 is coming to Sterling Friday, August 26 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Pastors and church leaders are invited to join us Friday at 6 PM for dinner and round table discussions. Don't miss your chance to be refreshed, this Friday from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Now is the time for all generations, denominations and cultures to unite in faith for our county, love of our nation and hope in God for the world.

There's a unique sound that is produced by unity in the body of Christ! It sounds like heaven touching earth! Folks came out to hear it last week at the Evergreen UMC One Loudoun Revival gathering August 19th in Leesburg!

According to Pastor Michelle Thomas, there has never before been such a uniquely diverse gathering of the body of Christ in Loudoun, where each church's expression of Jesus Christ is embraced and welcomed at each participating church sanctuary, echoed in worship and flowing through the entire service. Of course miracles, signs and wonders are manifesting. That's what truly happens when the people of God get together in solidarity.

Sterling has always been the 'gateway' to Loudoun and now God is using Sterling, a community of 'many nations,' to bring about revival and salvation for all people in the community who desire to accept this great gift of life. God has opened His Heavens to Sterling and His Glory will rest on Sterling. Participating in One Loudoun Revival can be the turning point in a person’s life. Let us know if you have a special prayer request. One Loudoun Revival pastors and leaders will intercede and pray that God will hear us and He will answer us.

August 26th @ 7 PM Oak Grove Baptist Church – 22870 Dominion Lane, Sterling

Pastor Greg Spurlock -Host Pastor

Sometime in the 1,868th year of our LORD, Reverend Robert Woodson, Pastor of Zion Baptist Church in Alexandria Virginia, settled near the Town of Herndon, Virginia. Reverend Woodson was interested in organizing a church and after much hard work, his efforts resulted in the organization of the Colored Church on October 10, 1868. A short time after 1871, the name was changed to Oak Grove Baptist Church.

The community of Oak Grove is located in Sterling, Virginia in the County of Loudoun bordering Fairfax County. It is one of five similar communities in Eastern Loudoun County that was founded by former slaves after the Civil War ended in 1865. The name Oak Grove was given in part to the stately oak trees surrounding the church grounds, whose towering tops pointed heavenward toward the God whom those few followers had decided to worship.

In 2011 God sent the Rev. Gregory Spurlock, 43 years young, from Chester, Virginia. Rev. Spurlock is a preacher, a father, a husband, a leader, a teacher, and a divinity student. He is an educated man of God who comes ready to lead Oak Grove to new heights as he executes his vision to serve.

We pray that God will show us favor when He looks down on us in a few years and He will say, "Well done thy good and faithful servants. Stay the course." God has been good to Oak Baptist Church. We have sailed the sea of time from 1868, to this present day with our Captain and Lord, Jesus Christ. And with Hope, Faith, and Love we will continue in the Lord.

Pastor Michelle C. Thomas, Holy & Whole Life Changing Ministries International – Guest Speaker

Pastor Michelle C. Thomas was born and raised in her father’s Pentecostal Church in Atlanta Georgia. Pastor Thomas inspired by the activism stories surrounding the Civil Rights Movement, told to her in first person accounts by those leaders, made a lifetime decision to become an ambassador for freedom, equality and justice. She continues to be a vanguard of progressive social movements and the human rights struggle in the United States.

In 2006, she founded Holy & Whole Life Changing Ministries International, a 21st Century non-denominational church, dedicated to her life’s mandate to Change Lives, Heal Hearts and Save Souls. Pastor Michelle is widely known as a 21st century leader and kingdom practitioner. She is a respected prophetic voice and a master surgeon of the word. Pastor is Founder and Chief Organizer of One Loudoun Revival.

The last time church revival came to Sterling was six years ago with the 2010 three-day Hope Fellowship Church Fall Revival that took place at the Hyatt Place Sterling/Dulles Hotel in Sterling on November 10, 11 and 12. Pastor Michael S. Mattar of Hope Fellowship Church who pastors at Ridgetop Circle in Sterling hosted the event and spoke to me the first night of the Revival, “I’m asking my brothers and sisters to pray and come out and show your support. Pray for the move of God that His Will be accomplished. Pray for souls to be restored back to God."

The Scripture reading each night was Ephesians 5: 6-17:

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. 7 Therefore do not be partners with them.

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light. 14 This is why it is said:

“Wake up, sleeper,

rise from the dead,

and Christ will shine on you.”

15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

Friday, August 26 will be the final One Loudoun Revival event. Each one was different and we were all blessed to participate with God’s beautiful people in this August series of events. Our spirits were uplifted and made us want to work harder to get out the message that all are worthy of receiving God’s love and that God’s love is the greatest love of all.
