Ball's Bluff Artifacts on Display at Balch Library
The Civil War exhibit runs through the end of August and benefits a volunteer group hoping to maintain the battlefield.
Earlier this year, a group of volunteers interested in local Civil War history formed a group called the to work with the and focus their attention on preserving and maintaining the battlefield park.
The group recently organized an exhibit of Civil War-related artifacts called History You Can Almost Touch that’s on display at in Leesburg through August.
The exhibit contains pieces from the collections of John Creamer of Leesburg as well as local historian Ken Fleming. There are items associated with the Battle of Ball’s Bluff.

“This exhibit is one of many events coming up in the next few months, which will be designed to draw attention both to the group itself and to the Ball’s Bluff Battlefield,” said Jim Morgan, chairman of Friends of Ball’s Bluff Battlefield. “The first big fundraiser will be a barn dance at Temple Hall on Sept. 8.”
