Cost To Gas Up In Leesburg Before Christmas 2017 Travel
If you're planning to drive to a holiday destination in the next few days, in Leesburg there's little need to look for a better gas price.

LEESBURG, VA — If you're planning to drive to a holiday destination in the next few days, there's little need in Leesburg to look for a better gas price. That's because, according to GasBuddy.com, Leesburg's gas prices are around the Virginia average of $2.23.
Early Thursday night, prices in the area averaged about $2.25 per gallon. Statewide, the average is $2.23. Nationally, we're talking an average of $2.42, according to AAA. And in nearby Ashburn? Try $2.55 per gallon.
But not here. Check out the five lowest-priced gas stations in Leesburg: Costco at 1300 Edwards Ferry Road NE ($2.19 per gallon), Leesburg Gas & Go at 344 East Market Street, ($2.25), Liberty at 2 Harrison Street NE ($2.25), Exxon at 148 Catocin Circle SE ($2.29) and Sunoco at 615 East Market Street ($2.29). If you're headed about an hour and a half or so south to Richmond, the lowest prices average around $2.05 per gallon.

All of that ties into what AAA is predicting to be quite the busy holiday travel season, perhaps even record breaking. From Dec. 23-Jan. 1, the travel safety organization says 107.3 million folks will hit the road, as it were, via planes trains and automobiles. That would be the highest year-end travel volume on record — and a 3.1 increase from a year ago.
A total of nearly eight million people living in Virginia, Maryland, and the Washington metro area will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Christmas/New Year's Holiday travel period. Of that number 7.2 million of those travelers will drive to their Christmas and New Year's Eve holiday destinations.

Forty-four percent of the Washington metro area's 6,131,977 residents plan to take a trip for the Christmas/New Year's holiday travel period with 91 percent of them traveling by vehicle.
