Deer Gets Trapped In Leesburg House After Crashing Through Window

Sheriff deputies, together with two animal control officers, calmed the deer — an eight-point buck — and safely removed it from the house.

LEESBURG, VA — Residents of a Leesburg home were surprised when a deer came crashing through a window and became trapped in their house Thursday morning. The homeowner called the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, who then contacted Loudoun County Animal Services.

Loudoun County Sheriff's deputies, together with two animal control officers, were able to calm the deer — an eight-point buck — and remove it from the house (see video below). The deer had minor injuries and was released safely back into the neighborhood, near Riverside Parkway. The buck caused a significant amount of damage to the house, located on Candlewick Square, Talia Czapski, Loudoun Animal Services community relations manager, told Patch.

The sheriff's office said it received a call from the homeowner around 7:40 a.m. on Dec. 5. The deputies that responded to the trapped deer in the house were Master Deputy Daniel Martynowicz, Deputy First Class Samuel Staley and Lieutenant Collette Cunningham. This is the only incident of a deer getting trapped inside a home in Loudoun County in recent memory, according to the sheriff's office.

Czapski, who also could not recall a deer getting trapped inside a house, said animal control officers were called earlier this year in response to a deer getting trapped inside a store and a data center in Loudoun County.
