Donate LEGOS, Support Autism Awareness At LearningRx

Local LearningRx brain training centers are looking for LEGO®s; lots of them for the Autism Society of Northern Virginia, where LEGO® building is a regular part of their community events. Northern Virginia LearningRx centers in Leesburg, Fairfax, Reston, and Vienna have a goal to collect 20,000 LEGO®s in total, and upon reaching that goal, center owners commit to trekking a 10-foot “LEGO® Walk of Fire” in bare feet. ASNV provides LEGO®- based activities at various campaigns, but currently have to rent LEGO®s for these events. With enough LEGO®s, ASNV could have their own set of LEGO®s to be used for all of their outreach programs.

“We know that LEGO® building is a great way to exercise cognitive development, and so many of us have unused LEGO®s in our homes; start cleaning out that toy room and help support Autism Awareness,” said Don Hollenbeck, executive director of LearningRx of Leesburg, Va.

LearningRx provides cognitive skills training to all ages; whether it be preschoolers or school-age children struggling in school, students and adults looking for a competitive edge, the older adult dealing with dementia or memory loss, or the athlete or military veteran who is coping with a traumatic brain injury. LearningRx creates a brain training program that is customized by an expert trainer, with one-on-one guidance and feedback throughout the program.
