The public is cordially invited to meet Brother Benjamin Franklin, as portrayed by Don McAndrews, who will visit Freedom Lodge on Friday, July 6, 2012. His Independence Day presentation will discuss his role and influence in shaping the formation of our country.
Ben's presentation will be during dinner which starts at 7 p.m. The dinner and program are open to the public.
The Grand Lodge of Virginia granted a dispensation for a Masonic Lodge to be constituted in Lovettsville on September 22, 1865. A charter was granted on December 13th of the same year and the lodge was named Freedom. Built in 1869, the current lodge hall located at 28 E Broad Way in Lovettsville, is the oldest in the Second Masonic District. Freedom Lodge No. 118 meets monthly on the 4th Friday of each month.
