As part of its free “Ask the Expert” lecture series, Inova Loudoun Hospital will host “da Vinci Treatment for Prostate Cancer and Urologic Conditions,” on Thursday, May 5, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
For men diagnosed with prostate cancer, removal of the entire prostate is one treatment option that has made huge strides in recent years. Using the da Vinci robotic surgical system, the surgeon guides robotic surgical arms that are smaller and more agile than a human hand. These arms allow the surgeon to carefully remove the prostate while sparing the patient’s nerves and blood vessels. This surgical approach generally results in less blood loss, shorter hospital stays, fewer complications and quicker return to activities.

Presented by Gregory Schenk, MD, Medical Director, Robotic Surgery and Minimally Invasive Urology, Inova Loudoun Hospital, the lecture will be at Inova Loudoun Hospital, 44045 Riverside Parkway, Leesburg, VA 20176, in Conference Rooms A and B.
