As part of its free “Ask the Expert” lecture series, Inova Loudoun Hospital will host “Joint Replacement for the Painful Arthritic Knee” on Wednesday, September 14, at 2 p.m.
The need for total knee and hip replacement is climbing steadily in the U.S. According to the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons there are currently, 300,000 total knee replacements per year and that number is expected to double by 2016.
Dr. Nauman Akhtar is spearheading improvements in the growing hip and knee replacement program at Inova Loudoun Hospital.

“Our main goals are to find the best way for patients to regain their range of motion while keeping ahead of pain and reducing surgical complications,” said Dr. Akhtar.
