Five Things Happening in Leesburg

1. Enjoy live Jazz with Rob Maletick & Friends at Velocity 5 Sports Bar & Grill this Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. The show will run until 10 p.m. and is free for everyone to attend.

2. Get a head start on your holiday shopping during the second annual Monroe Mall, this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at C.S. Monroe Technology Center. Enjoy one of a kind gifts created by Monroe students and more than twenty vendors. The event is free to attend.

3. Morven Park will feature a number of reenactors this Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m., who will portray members of the 17^th Maine. They will describe to visitors what it was like to move into the Loudoun County area 150 years ago and eventually to fight in the Battle of Gettysburg. Drill and firing demonstrations will take place at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. At all other times, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the soldiers at their camp site. Admission is free.

4. Members of the 17^th Mississippi Confederate Regiment will be portrayed at Morven Park this Saturday, beginning at 6 p.m. They will offer fireside chats and candlelit tours of the reproduction hut site on site. As reenactors describe the experiences of the infantrymen they will welcome visitors to join them in conversation. Visitors will rotate among five different stations to hear first-person narratives, then may join a lantern-lit walk to the original encampment area, which also will be candlelit. The cost to attend is $10.

5. The Fourth Annual "Shop The Rocks" event will be held this Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. Get a jump on your holiday shopping while supporting local, small businesses, such as Pampered Chef, Cutie Pies Keepsakes, Virginia Girl Bowtique, and 31 Gifts, among others. The event will be held in the Lakes of Red Rocks Clubhouse and is free to attend.
