Jewelry Store Burglarized In Leesburg: Police

LEESBURG, VA — Burglars stole from a Leesburg jewelry store on Monday morning, the police department said.

The burglars escaped with "an undetermined amount of property," according to the police report.

Authorities have not provided any description of the people responsible.

An alarm activated at the Leesburg Jewelers in the 300 block of East Market Street around 5:30 a.m. on Monday morning. When officers arrived, they noticed that someone had shattered the business's glass front door.

Authorities are urging business owners to take precautions to prevent similar burglaries.

• Leave lights on inside the business after closing.
• Leave the cash register empty and open when the business is closed.
• Have an audible alarm.
• Install motion-activated lights.
• Use security cameras.
