Lansdowne Woods Donates Meals To Loudoun's Front-Line Workers

Lansdowne Woods delivered meals to Ashburn Vol. Fire Station 22​ and plans to deliver meals to Inova Loudoun Hospital in August.

LANSDOWNE, VA — Lansdowne Woods of Virginia, an adult community in Loudoun County, delivered meals to personnel at a Loudoun fire station as part of its efforts to give back to the region's front-line workers during the coronavirus crisis. The retirement community has a tradition of giving since it opened in the late 1990s.

LWVA raised enough money from its residents to purchase meals from Crossroads Restaurant, the restaurant at Lansdowne Woods of Virginia. The community delivered 15 hot lunches for the crew on duty at Ashburn Vol. Fire Station 22 on Riverside Drive in Lansdowne on July 17 and an additional 15 hot dinners to the volunteer crew on duty later that day.

LWVA also is seeking to raise funds from community members to donate meals to front-line workers at Inova Loudoun Hospital. The community has seed money but is hoping to raise additional funds to cover the cost of feeding the many front-line workers at Inova Loudoun. The community plans to make the meal deliveries to the hospital in August.

Located on 45 acres in Loudoun County, Lansdowne Woods of Virginia is an active adult condominium community consisting of low and high-rise building, and a 48,000-plus-square-foot clubhouse. LWVA offers spacious condominium residences where residents enjoy resort-style amenities and a vast array of activities.

LWVA does community-wide fundraising from the residents of its 1,115 condominiums and households. Over the past 15 years, the community has made annual or twice-a year donations to the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Station.

The community also has made donations to Toys for Tots at Christmas and Loudoun Hunger Relief as well as donations to the annual rummage sale held by Ladies Board of Inova Loudoun Hospital.

During the coronavirus crisis, LWVA has prioritized helping local restaurants by inviting their food trucks into the retirement community.
