Leesburg Alerts Residents To Start Of Fall Leaf Collection

Leesburg crews will attempt to collect leaves from every street once per week starting on Oct. 19, as long as residents follow the rules.

LEESBURG, VA — Leesburg’s annual fall bulk leaf collection will start on Monday, Oct. 19. Town crews will attempt to collect leaves from every street once per week, but some routes may take up to 10 business days, the town said.

Final leaf pickup will be the week of Dec. 28 and will include leaf piles placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. that day. After this date, leaves must be set out in yard waste cans or paper yard waste bags to be collected as trash.

Leesburg is asking its residents to follow these guidelines for the collection of fall leaves. Leaf piles that do not meet these guidelines may not be collected, the town said:

  • Keep leaves away from storm inlets, fire hydrants and utility boxes.
  • Keep leaf piles within 4 feet of the curb.
  • On streets without curb and gutter, place leaves along the front property line, close to the street.
  • Keep vehicles at least 4 feet away from leaf piles.
  • Do not place equipment or toys near the leaves.
  • Do not mix grass clippings, yard waste, brush, or trash with leaves.
