Leesburg Health Inspections: Bia Kitchen, GOGI92 KBBQ
The Loudoun County Health Department recorded violations at several facilities around Leesburg during recent inspections.
LEESBURG, VA — Several restaurants around Leesburg and western Loudoun County recorded violations during recent inspections from the health department. Inspectors conducted the most recent restaurant visits between Dec. 14 and Dec. 20.
Most COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.
Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

- Date inspected: Dec. 15
- Total violations: 6
- Observed: Facility does not have a written procedure for cleaning up a vomit/diarrhea (v/d) event.
- There is no handwash sink in an area where a multitude of food-related tasks occur: food is portioned, bread is cut and beverages are made, preventing routine handwashing by food workers and preventing good hygienic practices.. Follow-up item.
- Observed: The handwashing sink located at the front of the bar is blocked with miscellaneous barware, etc., preventing access by employees for easy handwashing.
- Observed: The date the last mussel shell stock was sold is not recorded on the shell stock tag.
- The flat iron steak and hamburger menu offerings do not have an asterisk that coincides with the written consumer advisory at the bottom of the menu. The consumer advisory at the bottom of the menu needs to begin with an asterisk that coincides with the asterisk (reminder) positioned in front of the specific menu offering requiring a consumer advisory.

- Observed: Bag of onions setting on kitchen floor.
- Food being cooled stored in a location where it is subject to splash near hand sink.
- Vino Bistro, 1605 Village Market Blvd- Ste J-100 Leesburg, VA 20175
- Date inspected: Dec. 16
- Total violations: 4
- Observed no paper towels at hand sink by 3 compartment sink.
- Observed no tags with mussels in prep cooler.
- Observed knives resting directly on shelf in prep cooler.
- Observed ahi tuna thawing in reduced oxygen packing (ROP).

- Total violations: 3
- Observed 2 employee beverage containers on food preparation table with exposed food and utensils. Employees shall drink in an area that prevents contamination of clean equipment/ utensils and food.
- Observed a large pot blocking the hand washing sink in the dish machine area. Handwashing sink was inaccessible.
- Observed wiping cloth stored in a sanitizer bucket with 0 PPM quaternary ammonium. Wiping cloths shall be stored in sanitizer solution at proper concentration.

- Total violations: 2
- Observed a full pitcher in hand washing sink at bar. Hand washing sink was not accessible. Also observed food residue clogging the hand washing sink near the 3 basin sink.
- Observed plumbing connection under the 3 compartment sink leaking. Containers were observed to catch the leaking water.

- Total violations: 6
- Observed a delivery of bean sprouts 48F and 50F delivery of cold held foods should be at 41F or below when received.
- Observed raw chicken over raw pork & raw pork store over ready to eat lettuce in 2 door reach in cooler.
- Observed food employee washing knives in hand sink and then dried with a towel without sanitizing.
- Observed rice 115F, 117F (discarded) in hot box & soup 109F (reheated 202), broth 85F (174F) foods held hot should be maintained at 135F or above.
- In walk in cooler there was multiple large containers of kimchi that was kept past 7 days.
- Observed metal guard of ice machine with a pink substance.
- Gringo Gordo Empanada Cafe, 609 E Main St, Unit M Purcellville, VA 20132
- Date inspected: Dec. 19
- Total violations: 4
- Observed no paper towels at the hand washing sink in the service area. Paper towel dispenser was observed empty.
- Observed front and back exterior doors to not be tight fitting. Daylight was observed around the bottom of the door which could potentially allow pests to enter the facility.
- Observed food employee to be wearing no hair restraint.
- Observed single service items (to-go containers) in cardboard boxes stored on the floor. Single service items are not stored at least 6 inches above the floor.

- Date inspected: Dec. 19
- Total violations: 4
- Manager cannot locate signed employee health policy for reporting of illness. A signed copy is to be available.
- Dish machine is not working properly. Food contact surfaces are not being sanitized. 0ppm chlorine.
- Walkin cooler #1 is dripping condensate onto boxes for food. Protect boxes of food and repair the walkin cooler if it is intended to be used as a freezer.
- The low chemical dishwasher is not equipped with an alarm to indicate low sanitizer levels. There must be a visual or audible alarm.

- Date inspected: Dec. 20
- Total violations: 4
- Observed: There is no soap at the bar hand sink. or at the kitchen hand sink.
- Observed: Cooked lobster on ice on cookline registered 56F.
- Observed: Oyster menu does not have reminder (asterisks) on each menu item that coincide with the disclosure on the bottom of the menu. The disclosure on the bottom of the menu needs to have an asterisk too.
- Slicer located in prep area in basement does not have adequate lighting.
- Paisano's Pizza, 23-25 Catoctin Circle NE Leesburg, VA 20175
- Date inspected: Dec. 20
- Total violations: 2
- Observed time as a public health control being used for marinara sauce not marked or otherwise identified to indicate the time that is 4 hours past the point in time when the food was removed from temperature control.
- Observed pizza oven conveyor and toaster conveyor in need of cleaning. Conveyors observed with an accumulation of food debris.
- Popeye's Restaurant, 515 Market Street East Leesburg, VA 20175
- Date inspected: Dec. 20
- Total violations: 3
- Multiple containers of raw chicken observed stored improperly (uncovered) in the walk in cooler.
- Upon arrival to the inspection EHS observed an abundance of standing water throughout the facility. When asked about said water, the person in charge( PIC) explained that the fryers were being cleaned out (EHS did observe this) with the hose from the mop sink. The hose has several holes throughout and the PIC explained that water sprays everywhere when the hose is used. The abundance of water is a harborage condition for pests.
- The automatic feed sanitizer equipment is broken and employees are not able to fill the three compartment sink straight from the dispenser, they are having to mix the sanitizer by hand.
