Leesburg Health Inspections: Bowlero, Bandit Taco
The Loudoun County Health Department recorded violations at several restaurants around Leesburg during recent inspections.
LEESBURG, VA — Several restaurants around Leesburg and western Loudoun County recorded violations during recent inspections from the health department. Inspectors conducted the most recent restaurant visits between Nov. 16 and Nov. 22.
Most COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.
Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

- Observed: Paper towels not available at employee handwashing sink. Corrected at inspection by replenishing paper towel dispenser.
- Premiere Hospitality, 41580 Sunday Morning Lane Leesburg, VA 20176
- Date inspected: Nov. 16
- Total violations: 3
- No sanitizer available at cafe. Chlorine splash-less sanitizer used is not approved for food contact.
- Turkey legs hot holding at improper temperature at the Village.
- Food employee could not locate test strips for measuring sanitizer concentration.

- Total violations: 3
- Observed a gallon of milk and 2 containers of heavy cream stored in refrigeration well over the sell-by date.
- Observed 3 containers of pickled squash in the facility. The facility cans the product themselves. Facility does not have approval for this process.
- Observed several packages of raw animal protein thawing in the 3-compartment sink at room temperature.

- Observed hood vent with an accumulation of grease. Hood vent is in need of cleaning.
- Observed a large bag of onions and carrots stored on the floor in the kitchen. Also observed a bag of limes stored on the floor in the kitchen.
- Observed a container of broth that was made by the establishment and pulled from the freezer not properly re-dated for disposition. Also observed cooked chicken, cooked tofu, and won tons prepared Tuesday not dated for disposition.
- Observed hand washing sink at the service area/ front counter blocked with dishes.

- Observed raw shell eggs over oranges in the walk in cooler.
- Bar dishwasher sanitizer at 0ppm chlorine sanitizer should have concentration between 50-100 ppm.
- Observed the spouts of the large condiments containers (ketchup/ mustard) in the kitchen and blade of can open with a build up of food residue.
- There was no testing strips for the quat at 3-compartment sink or chlorine test for bar and main dishwasher.
- Observed the plastic guard of ice machine with build up of dirt.

- The person in charge could not provide information in a verifiable means showing food staff have been properly trained in employee health policy.
- Sliced pizza was observed in warmer unit using time control instead of temperature control for holding pizza. The pizza was observed at 124 F with no labeling indicating when the pizza was removed from oven and when the pizza must be sold or discarded.
- The food thermometer manager pulled out to check the internal temperature of re-heating meatballs was not working. When asked about having another food thermometer, manager stated they did not have another one, thus internal food temperatures could not be determined.

- Date inspected: Nov. 21
- Total violations: 3
- Observed raw chicken and raw beef stored over shell eggs in the walk in refrigeration unit.
- Observed several damp wiping cloths throughout the facility stored on counters and equipment.
- Observed rice scoop in warm, standing water. Water was not maintained at 135F. Water was observed at 129F.
- Bandit Taco, 1601 Village Market Blvd SE Leesburg, VA 20175
- Date inspected: Nov. 22
- Total violations: 4
- Observed no paper towels at hand sink in front kitchen area.
- The quaternary sanitizing at 3 compartment sink was at 0 ppm according to manufacturer's instruction state the concentration should be 200-400 ppm.
- Observed food employee prepping whole heads of lettuce removing from bag, cutting, placing in a container and placing a lid on the containers without washing the lettuce with water.
- Next to the 3 compartment sink the base tiles have fallen off to expose that there is no drywall.
- IL Cappero Italian Restaurant, 19307 Promenade Dr #101 Leesburg, VA 20176

- Total violations: 5
- Observed food debris at the base of the slicer where the sliced foods come out after being sliced.
- Observed pasta made earlier in the walk in cooler in plastic containers with lids and the container were stacked on top of each other.
- Observed a variety of cutting broad in kitchen that have scratching and scaring making them not easily cleanable.
- There was no way to test the sanitizer at the 3 compartment sink.
- There was large buildup of food debris on sides and bottom of the cubby shelves under the stoves.
