Leesburg Health Inspections: Kobe Steakhouse, Loudoun Kitchen And Bar

The Loudoun County Health Department recorded violations at several facilities around the Leesburg area during recent inspections.

LEESBURG, VA — Several restaurants around Leesburg and western Loudoun County recorded violations during recent inspections from the health department. Inspectors conducted the most recent restaurant visits between Dec. 28 and Jan. 3.

Most COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

  • Loudoun County Youth Shelter, 16445 Meadowview Ct Leesburg, VA 20175
    • Date inspected: Dec. 29
    • Total violations: 2
      • Observed food thermometers (3) not in working condition. Food thermometers are unable to measure temperatures.
      • Observed no test kit to measure quaternary ammonium sanitizer used for sanitizing dishes.
  • Purcellville Restaurant, 110 W Main St Purcellville, VA 20132
    • Date inspected: Jan. 3
    • Total violations: 1
      • Observed a container of sliced turkey prepared on 12/26 and a container of sliced roast beef prepared on 12/26 in need of disposition. Food has exceeded the 7 day shelf life.
  • Colombian's Place, LLC (Chefscape), 1602 Village Market Blvd Leesburg, VA 20175
    • Date inspected: Dec. 28
    • Total violations: 4
      • The facility could not provide documentation that anyone is Certified Food Protect Manager Certificate.
      • Observed hand sink blocked with a metal tray in the suite.
      • Observed raw shell eggs (chicken/quail) above ready to eat tomatoes.
      • Observed the use of non food contact surface bags (grocery bags) to store frozen foods.
  • Kobe Japanese Steak House, 514 E. Market St Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Date inspected: Dec. 28
    • Total violations: 2
      • Observed time as a public health control being used for sushi rice not properly marked or otherwise identified to indicate the time that is 4 hours past the point in time when the food was removed from temperature control. Sushi rice had a label mark with 4:30 - 8:30. Rice was observed sitting out of temperature control at 3:45 PM. Rice was not accurately marked.
      • Observed wall by dish machine area in need of cleaning. Wall was observed with black residue build-up.
  • Loudoun Kitchen and Bar (The), 510 Market Street East Leesburg, VA 20176
    • Date inspected: Dec. 28
    • Total violations: 5
      • A whisk was observed stored in the hand sink next to the prep sink.
      • Salt and spices were observed stored uncovered/unprotected while stored in back dry storage area.
      • Some food items prepared on site were observed date marked and some were not. All time control for food safety (TCS) foods need to be date marked.
      • Frozen chicken was observed thawing in standing water at the 3-compartment sink.
      • In-use wet wiping cloths were observed stored on side of sink in the bar.
