Leesburg Jewelry Shop Damaged By Fire: Media Reports

Saturday night blaze caused about $500,000 in damage, say fire officials.

The owners of a jewelry store in downtown Leesburg are cleaning up today from a Saturday night fire that damaged their building.

There were no serious injuries in the fire, which broke out in a second-floor apartment in the three-story building that houses Caulkins Jewelers, according to media reports. Firefighters began battling the blaze at about 9:20 p.m. Saturday.

The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The anticipated loss to the structure and its contents is about $500,000, according to WTTG-TV Channel 5.

Rescue units transported one adult occupant of the second-floor apartment to Inova Loudoun Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. Additionally, one firefighter and a civilian who was on the scene were transported for medical evaluation, WRC-TV Channel 4 reported.

Loudoun County Animal Control personnel responded to the scene to care for several pets that died in the fire, Channel 4 reported.
