Leesburg Restaurant Inspections: Downtown Saloon, Red Bar Sushi

A dozen restaurants around the Leesburg area were cited with violations during recent inspections by the Loudoun County Health Department.

LEESBURG, VA — Several restaurants around Leesburg and the rest of western Loudoun County were cited with violations during recent visits from the Loudoun County Health Department. The most recently published inspections were conducted between Jan. 26 and Feb. 1.

As coronavirus restrictions continue to fluctuate around the state, health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.

Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection.

    • Total violations: 6
      • Observed no verifiable manner that employees are aware, to report to the person in charge, information about their health and activities as it relates to diseases that are transmissible through food. No verifiable manner was observed for current working employees.
      • Observed hand washing sink at the bar blocked by empty sanitizer bucket.
      • Observed bar soda guns with an accumulation of black residue. Also observed ice scoop for ice machine stored on top of the dusty machine.
      • Observed 6 cooked pork butts cooked 1/25 in need of disposition. Also observed 3 containers of buffalo chicken dip dated with a prep date of 1/2 in need of disposition.
      • Observed no proper test kit for Quaternary Ammonium sanitizer used at the 3 compartment sink.
      • Observed mop head not allowed to air dry. Mop was observed in the mop bucket.
