Leesburg Restaurant Inspections: Sidebar, Market Burger
Several restaurants around Leesburg and Purcellville recorded violations during recent health department inspections.
LEESBURG, VA — More than a dozen facilities around Leesburg recorded violations during recent inspections from the Loudoun County Health Department. The most recent inspections occurred between March 30 and April 5.
Many COVID-19 restrictions around the state have relaxed, so health inspectors are returning to conduct some restaurant inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually.
Violations at restaurants typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

- Lighting in kitchen at cook line is not sufficient. Several bulbs are out.

- Facility has closed off access between the dish room and the serving area without health department approval. Sanitized utensils and wares are only able to be transported to service areas through the outside with no protection. The facility has also added an upstairs bar without health department approval. Food establishments are required to submit plans as specified under 12VAC5-421-3600 the department shall issue a permit after: A properly completed application is submitted, any required fee is submitted, the required plans, specifications, an information are reviewed and approved and a pre-operational inspection shows the establishment is built or remodeled in accordance with the approved plans and specifications.
