Local Student Named to Ambassador Program

Courtney Gilmore will join the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Ambassador Program at Virginia Tech.

Leesburg resident Courtney Gilmore has joined the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences Ambassador Program at Virginia Tech. Students are selected to join the team each spring through a competitive application process.

Gilmore, a junior majoring in political science, volunteers with a faculty member for a minimum of two hours a week and volunteers for other various events hosted by the college. Ambassadors work closely with faculty, staff, parents, and alumni to expand the college’s outreach, according to a press release.

Ambassadors gain invaluable experience through opportunities to be leaders, networking, and interacting with members of the college. The ambassador program was formed in 1993 and has been providing more than 3,000 volunteer hours to the college and the college departments each year. This past year’s ambassadors helped the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences secure more than 500 prospective students.
