Loudoun Man Gets 15-Year Prison Sentence, Lifetime On Sex Offender List, For 2025 Assault

LEESBURG, VA – A Sterling man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for aggravated sexual battery, the Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Yulf Arnold Bernaola Silva, 46, of Sterling, was arrested on July 15, 2025, and charged in connection with an attack on a woman in Sterling on April 26 of that year. He ultimately pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated sexual battery on May 28 and was sentenced on Thursday.

The Loudoun Times, citing court documents, reported that the victim was intoxicated at the time of the assault and that she asked Bernaola Silva to stop several times. The outlet reported at the time of the crime that Bernaola Silva was accused of entering the victim’s bedroom and assaulting her on two occasions over the same night.

Bernaola Silva will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
