Loudoun County Schools Make Weather Decision For Jan. 7

There has been a change to Tuesday's schedule based on weather, according to Loudoun County Public Schools.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Public schools in Loudoun County will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 7, because of the weather. Officials made the announcement Tuesday morning.

School administrative offices in Loudoun will be opening on time. All activities on school campuses have been cancelled.

Weather-related closing and delay messages are sent district-wide in Loudoun County. Messages are sent early in the morning (6 a.m.) or at night (prior to 10 p.m.) notifying parents that schools will be closed or operating on a delay due to inclement weather. Information also is posted on the Loudoun County Public School system website, www.lcps.org, and on the school division's Facebook page and Twitter feed.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory from noon to 7 p.m. on Tuesday for Loudoun County. Snow could begin in the late morning, but the steadiest snow is forecast to fall between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Snow accumulation is expected to be 1 to 3 inches in Loudoun. High temperatures will be in the upper 30s.
