Louisiana Driver Strikes Pedestrian Near Leesburg: Police
A Louisiana man struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Route 7 and Hidden Gap Road early Sunday evening, the sheriff's office said.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA ā A Louisiana man who allegedly struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Route 7 and Hidden Gap Road west of Leesburg early Sunday evening was later charged with driving while intoxicated, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.
When Loudoun deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection just east of Clarke's Gap at around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday, deputies discovered that the driver of the vehicle, Michael J. Dougherty, 37 of Morgan City, Louisiana, was under the influence of alcohol, the sheriff's office said.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries from which they are expected to survive.

Dougherty was transported to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and was released on his own recognizance, the sheriff's office said.
