Man Arrested For Robbing Leesburg IHOP, Best Western: Police

According to police, the suspect implied he had a gun and demanded cash from employees at both Leesburg businesses.

LEESBURG, VA — Leesburg police have arrested a suspect in connection with the Sept. 30 robbery of the Leesburg Best Western and the Oct. 1 robbery of a Leesburg IHOP. According to police, James Earl Wiseman, 35, of no fixed address, was taken into custody following an investigation into the robberies.

Police said the suspect entered the Leesburg Best Western at about 11:40 p.m. Sept. 30 before implying he had a weapon and demanding cash. The suspect then fled the scene without taking anything, police said.

The second incident occurred shortly after midnight when the suspect went into the Leesburg IHOP, threatened employees and demanded cash, police said. The suspect then fled the scene with money from the business. There were no reported injuries in either incident.

Wiseman was arrested Oct. 1 on an unrelated public intoxication charge. The Leesburg Police Department has since charged Wiseman with one count of robbery and one count of attempted robbery. He remains jailed at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.
