Man Who Died In Police Custody In Leesburg Identified
A 26-year-old man who died on Friday after he was taken into custody by Leesburg police officers has now been identified.

LEESBURG, VA — An investigation is underway after a 26-year-old man arrested died while in Leesburg police custody Friday, according to a release issued by the Leesburg Police Department. On Monday, the man was identified as Brian White of Leesburg.
Police went to the Best Western in Leesburg after receiving a 911 call about a man in the hotel lobby who was reportedly exhibiting irrational behavior. The caller said the man had possibly ingested drugs or was going through a medical emergency, police said.

When police arrived, they found the man in the hotel parking lot. He was agitated and combative, according to police, so he was handcuffed while members of Loudoun County Fire & Rescue attempted to treat him. He continued to struggle, police said, so he was later placed in leg restraints for his safety as well as the safety of others, according to a police report.
The man was taken by ambulance to Inova Loudoun Hospital in Lansdowne, where his treatment was turned over to hospital staff, police said. Amid treatment, the man was declared dead at 7:53 p.m.

The Northern Virginia Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the death. A cause of death has not been released, though authorities said an autopsy would be conducted as part of the investigation.
