Man Hospitalized After Accidentally Shooting Himself: Police

PURCELLVILLE, VA — A man accidentally shot himself Tuesday night in Purcellville as he was unloading his gun, according to the Purcellville Police Department. The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of W. O Street, the police said Wednesday.

Officers helped the man until medical personnel arrived and transported him to a local Inova hospital for injuries from which he is expected to survive.

Due to the nature of the wounds, the incident is currently being investigated by the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Purcellville police said.
