Man Tried To Lure 8-Year-Old Into Car In Leesburg: Police

Leesburg police are investigating after an 8-year-old said they were riding their bike outside when a man tried to lure them into his car.

LEESBURG, VA — A man tried to lure an 8-year-old into his car in Leesburg on Sunday afternoon, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

The 8-year-old did not get into the car and was unharmed, according to the police report.

Authorities have not been able to identify the man yet.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday in a parking lot of the Evans Ridge Apartments, near 402 Evans Ridge Terrace in Leesburg. The 8-year-old child was riding their bicycle in the area when a gray sedan pulled up next to them, police said.

The driver of the sedan told the child to get in the car, according to the police report. The child dropped their bike and ran away. The man immediately drove away.

The police department is asking residents of the apartment complex to check any surveillance cameras for footage of the incident.
