Each piece includes a wide range of subjects from landscapes, nature studies and portraits that Poyerd said was drawn out to emphasize a certain feeling she wants to get across.

She described her work as "life portraits" because each piece portrays a moment she experiences in life. As a result, it makes her style a little more realistic than some other artists, she said.

“I think my work is pretty varied,” Poyerd said. “My oils are somewhat expressionistic and my watercolors are very detailed. Not necessarily the typical water color look so I think it would be kind of interesting for people to kind of explore that.”

Poyerd’s exhibit will be on display until April 30, 2012. Almost all of the pieces are available for sale. For more information visit www.jpwatercolors.com.
