Oatlands Hosts Annual Summer Exhibit

The popular art show returns for the fourteenth year.

The fourteenth annual “Four Seasons of Oatlands” Art Show & Sale will continue to take place at the local plantation through July 31. The juried show transforms the historic Carriage House into a premier art gallery each year and features a number of pieces that have been created by local artists.

“Oatlands is committed to bringing the arts to Loudoun County, and we are pleased to be able to hold such an exceptional show this year,” states Oatlands Executive Director Andrea McGimsey. “Each year the show increases both its quality and diversity of art and continues to enjoy enormous support from the region’s art community.”

This year’s show highlights "The Trees of Oatlands" and will feature images from the “Journey Through Hallowed Ground” portion of Route 15, which begins in Gettysburg, PA and ends at Monticello in Charlottesville, Va.

The show also showcases works from the Mosby Heritage Area, as well as Oatlands itself. As always, patrons will have the opportunity to purchase paintings that cover an enormous spectrum of subject matter—everything from the bucolic Virginia countryside to the treasures of Europe.

This year, more than 70 artists have submitted over 250 pieces of art for the jury to review.

"Our local artists demonstrate an amazing level of talent," said Oatlands Director of Operations Carolyn McCarthy, who organized this year’s show. “We are always excited to see what our returning artists enter in the show, and to welcome submissions from new artists each year."

The art show is free and open to the public Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. through July 31. Donations are welcome to support the arts at Oatlands.

Proceeds from the art sale benefit Oatlands, Inc. a non-profit organization that maintains, exhibits and interprets the cultural and historical significance of the Oatlands property to the public. For more information, call 703-777-3174 or visit www.oatlands.org.
