(Winchester, VA) - A lot of people are experiencing fear and anxiety right now due to the pandemic. Time for a distraction!

How about traveling to an alternative reality with the Winchester Book Gallery as the store hosts a Facebook Live event for Northern Virginia author M.D. Missaiel on Sat., Dec. 5, 2020, between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. ET. He will share the inspiration for his new novel, The Alternative History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, which is being called a home run for history lovers and fiction readers alike.

When the story begins, Saul Brutus has just returned from a trip to an alternate reality. One in which Rome didn’t fall, and the modern world is a lot different as a result. Missaiel says the story was inspired by his love of history, an overactive imagination, and the parallels he noticed between the Fall of the Roman Empire and what is happening in America today.
