Police Investigating July 4 Gunfire In Leesburg

The Leesburg Police Department said officers are investigating after witnesses saw two people fired guns into the air on July 4.

LEESBURG, VA — Police in Leesburg are investigating gunfire that was reported on Monday, July 4. Witnesses told police that two men fired shots into the air in a parking lot on Edwards Ferry Road NE.

No injuries were reported as a result of the gunshots, the police department said in a report on Wednesday. Authorities have also not received any reports of property damage caused by the shots.

The Leesburg Police Department has not announced any arrests in connection with the shooting. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects.

The shooting occurred in the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Road NE around 11:30 p.m. on Monday. Multiple callers contacted police about the gunshots, according to the police department's report.

The police department said officers responded to the scene, but they were unable to locate the suspects.

Authorities are asking anyone who may have video footage of the shooting to contact Detective Hill at 703-771-4500 or at chill@leesburgva.gov.

Over the July 4 weekend, several people around the country were injured by celebratory gunfire. In Oakland, four people were shot outside of an Oakland Athletics' baseball game, according to the Oakland Police Department. The victims' injuries were not considered life-threatening.
