Purcellville Accepting Applications For Police Advisory Committee

The police advisory committee will consist of nine voting members, all of whom will be appointed by the Purcellville Town Council.

PURCELLVILLE, VA — The town of Purcellville is accepting applications for residents interested in becoming a member of the town's new Community Policing Advisory Committee.

The committee was created to enhance communication and community engagement between the Purcellville Police Department and the town's residents, businesses and visitors. The town hopes to improve public trust of the police department through increased communication and education carried out by the advisory committee.

The committee will consist of nine voting members, all of whom will be appointed by the Purcellville Town Council. Members must be at least 16 years old and a resident of the town or a student who goes to a school in the town.

Committee members will be appointed for a term of two years; four of the inaugural terms will be terms of one year so that terms may be staggered. Members cannot be currently employed by the town of Purcellville.

Applications are available on the town's website or at Town Hall at 221 S. Nursery Ave. on Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The applications are due Nov. 20. The Purcellville Town Council will interview applicants starting in early December.
