Third of Four Classical Concerts at the Old Stone School Finishes with a Standing Ovation and Encore Performance

The concert series benefits ongoing restoration efforts at the Old Stone School.

Release:

Hillsboro, VA—The McNair Auditorium at the Old Stone School in Hillsboro was filled with the harmonious duets of Kimberly Eloshway on flute and Neil Weston on piano during the November 2 concert called Winter Songs for Flute. Together, they performed classical music composed by Bach, Fauré, Mozart, and Vivaldi, along with Irish tunes such as Danny Boy and Kerry Dances. Before the performance, a delicious dinner catered by Karen Fuog was served, and the ongoing art show and a silent auction were open for the evening. At the end of the concert, the audience rose to their feet with a standing ovation that was rewarded with an encore performance. The concert series, presented by the non-profit Hillsboro Community Association (HCA) and the Town of Hillsboro, is to benefit the ongoing restoration efforts at the Old Stone School, while providing an opportunity for people to experience music in the intimate and quaint setting of this historic building where they can enjoy incredible music and have a special chance to meet the talented performers.

The dinner theater-style set up in the auditorium of the historic building added to the intimate feel of the evening with more than 30 people in the audience. Nearly all came for the dinner before the concert, catered by Karen Fuog, and enjoyed wine from Hillsborough Vineyards or hot cider. Guests also had a chance to see the art show in the Old Stone School and were able to bid on incredible items that were part of the silent auction also to benefit restoration efforts for the building. Because of the smaller venue, members of the audience were able to meet and talk to Eloshway and Weston before, during and after the performance.
