Traffic Alert: Runners To Crowd Area Roads This Weekend

Motorists should slow down for 5K races in Ashburn, Sterling and South Riding, says Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Three 5K races and an event in Middleburg this weekend may cause traffic delays for local motorists, the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

The events listed below only include activities where police will guide traffic, the sheriff's office said.

  • A 5K/one mile "glow run" will take place from sunset (around 7:30 p.m.) to 10 p.m. Saturday night in South Riding. Roads that may be affected include Riding Center Drive, Unicorn Drive, Flemming Drive, Lemontree Place and Bradshaw Drive.
  • A 5K run will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Sterling. Roads that may be affected include Pacific Boulevard, Dresden Street, Broderick Drive and Prentice Drive.
  • A 5K/10K run will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Ashburn. Roads that may be affected include Ashburn Village Boulevard, Fincastle Drive, Gloucester Parkway, Tavern Drive, Bruceton Mills Circle, Cheltenham Circle and Ringold Drive.
  • An event in Middleburg from noon to 6 p.m Sunday may affect traffic on the roads to and from Glenwood Park.

Motorists are asked to please be patient, drive safely, follow all law enforcement direction and have a safe weekend.
