Trick-Or-Treat: When, Where To Get Halloween Candy In Leesburg

This Halloween, little ghosts, ghouls, and goblins will head around the neighborhood for trick-or-treat and various trunk-or-treat events.

LEESBURG, VA — Expect more trick-or-treaters out on Halloween night as health guidance for the holiday looks different from last year.

Loudoun County does not set a specific time for trick-or-treat, so you can expect costumed kids to roam the neighborhood on the evening of Sunday, Oct. 31. Check with homeowners associations or apartment complexes for different trick-or-treat times.

Last year, Loudoun County recommended against traditional trick-or-treating in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance. In 2021, public health officials said the tradition can go on with precautions. Families are recommended to keep trick-or-treat activities outdoors, wear a mask, avoid crowded doorsteps, keep six feet of distance from other households, and wash hands or use hand sanitizer before eating candy. Residents should stay home if they've tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 10 days or been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

Residents who hand out candy are encouraged to set up an area outside for candy. Candy can be spaced out so multiple people don't reach into the same bowl, or creative ideas like a candy chute can be utilized.
