What's Open, Closed For Veterans Day 2021 In Loudoun County

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Before the holiday season gets started with Thanksgiving later this month, Veterans Day will be observed as a federal holiday on Thursday, Nov. 11.

The holiday celebrates all those who have served in the U.S. armed forces. Around Loudoun County, there will be closures for the holiday and a Veterans Day ceremony.

At Dodona Manor on E. Market Street in Leesburg, home of the George C. Marshall International Center, a ceremony will honor veterans of all conflicts for their patriotism and sacrifice. The keynote speaker at the event will be Lt. Gen. Bruce Crawford, U.S. Army (Ret.).

This event is free and open to the public. Event parking is available at the Loudoun County Government parking garage on Loudoun Street, between Harrison and Church Streets, or at metered and street parking spots in the area.

Here are the schedule changes and closings to know for Veterans Day around Leesburg, Ashburn, and the rest of Loudoun County.

• Loudoun County government offices: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 11.
• Courts: Circuit Court, General District Court, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on Thursday, Nov. 11.
• Loudoun County Public Schools: Schools will be open on Thursday, Nov. 11. LCPS is planning special events and activities on Veterans Day to honor those who have served in the U.S. military.
• Loudoun County landfill: The landfill will be open on Thursday, Nov. 11.
• Libraries: All Loudoun County Public Library locations are closed on Thursday, Nov. 11.
• Recreation and community centers: Open on Thursday, Nov. 11.
• Town of Leesburg government: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 11.
• Town of Leesburg trash collection: Trash collection in the Town of Leesburg will continue on its regular schedule on Thursday, Nov. 11.
• Post offices: U.S. Postal Service offices are closed on Thursday, Nov. 11
• Loudoun County Transit: Loudoun County Transit is operating a significantly reduced schedule on Thursday, Nov. 11.
• Loudoun County's visitor center: Located in Market Station, the visitor center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11.
