Lorton Rainfall and The Outlook for June

Daily rainfall totals for previous 24 hours measured at 6am from my rain gauge in Lorton.

May continues to replenish our water supply, with a few days of rain again last week.  According to the National Weather Service’s Advanced Hydrological Prediction Service, our water deficit in Lorton for this week improved to being short 5.11” year to date - we received 1.37” of rain this week. 

The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center this week issued their outlook of temperature and precipitation for June 2012.  While we are forecast to have even chances of wet and dry weather (which means it’s anyone’s guess), a wide variety of their tools indicate that it’s supposed to be warmer than normal this month.  Summer doesn’t start until June 20th, but our air conditioners will be working hard well before then.
