Lorton Rainfall Sep 3 - 9, 2012; Upcoming National Weather Service Open House

Daily rainfall totals for previous 24 hours measured at 6am from my rain gauge in Lorton.

We didn’t get as much rain as forecast last week, but it still was pretty wet.  We’ve had 5.01” of rain in the last month, so we’ve made some progress improving our dry conditions.  

For those interested in learning more about the National Weather Service, what they do, and how they do it, the Baltimore/Washington Forecast Office (located at Dulles Airport) is having an open house on Saturday September 22nd and Sunday September 23rd.  You can find details on their website and they ask that you RSVP.  SKYWARN® Spotter classes will also be offered at 2:00 PM Saturday and Sunday. My rain gauge in Lorton recorded the following precipitation at 6am on the day indicated for the previous 24 hours:
