News from Steven Stolzfus’ Country Store: Next week Steven will bring Piedmontese beef, which I believe to be the best free-range breed around. Cross-bred with Angus for flavor, this beef is still leaner and more tender than any other breed while also being the healthiest for your heart.

Steven also wants me to let you know that he continues to expand the Trickling Springs product line to include new yogurt and ice cream flavors. He will also enable you to preorder your milk each week and will set it aside for you until 6:30 p.m., or later if you request that. Look for the preorder sheet next to the coolers.
Steven has good news for those of you who wanted to see butter substituted for margarine in the baked goods. The bakers will be doing just that, and Steven will try to hold the line on prices. His aunt and her baking friends will also begin to add more fruit to the pies. And this week they will begin to send pumpkin pie along with the other seasonal favorites: apple cake and apple dumplings. He will also bring fresh apple cider and applesauce this week and sample both.

Wicked Oak has sausage this week and fresh chicken, whole and parts. Russ will have necks, backs and feet for a nutrient-dense stock.
Nyall of Celtic Pasties is back! He will have Beef & Guinness, Cottage Pie Style, Mango Chicken, Spinach & Feta, and Cheese & Onion pasties, plus a new Chicken Parmesan variety.
I am not a cake pop fan -- in fact, I had never had one until vendors started bringing them to market. But Kylie is bringing some great cake pops for all ages; I have recently tried the Creamsicle and the chocolate-covered cherry, and they were great! Kylie works hard at developing her authentic flavors, the cake is very good, and her frostings are high-quality. I am encouraging her to spread her wings with some new items for us grown-ups, but in the meantime, the pops are a tasty treat that won't break your calorie bank. Ask her about her flavor menu for special orders.
