Congressman Connolly is bringing the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee to hold a field forum, Lessons from Election Day 2012: Examining the Need for Election Reform, on January 14th in Prince William County (PWC). The congressional panel will hear statements from citizens, local government officials, and national experts, addressing what went wrong on Election Day, and examining potential solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of voting processes in Virginia and across the country.
“On Election Day, voters in Virginia and across the Nation faced unacceptably long lines, confusing directions, and antiquated technology at a number of polling places,” Connolly said. “This forum will examine how Federal, State, and local officials can work together to implement election reforms that will enhance voting processes and procedures by leveraging technology, improved training, and adoption of best practices.”
Connolly has invited officials from Prince William County, national experts on voting reform, and voters from the 11th District, to serve as panelists at the forum.
