To all Friends and Prospective Friends! Looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting - tomorrow, August 8, at 7:00 p.m. at the Visitor Center.
We've made some good progress in the last few weeks. For example, we are now officially incorporated (so we can open the bank account, accept membership fees, begin working on our tax 501(c)(3) status, etc.). Floyd Harrison, the publisher of the Lorton Valley Star, has designed a fabulous logo and is working on website concepts, and Secretary Darlene has led the way in creating a Membership Application and looking into other membership issues. Last - but CERTAINLY not least--we helped round up the votes that enabled the MNSP to finish second and win $50,000 for the Park in the Coke Contest!!
As you can see, we'll have lots to talk about. In addition to getting updates on these and other issues, we're hoping to focus on overarching objectives for the Friends group and to put together a calendar of proposed objectives, meetings and events for the next few months.
Anyone with an interest in the park or nature or the environment is welcome to attend.
