Wondering what to do with the kids this weekend? We've got you covered!

Wondering how to spend your weekend with the kids and what is going on in and around Lorton? Our Grab and Go Family Planner has activities to celebrate Valentine’s Day and African American History Month this weekend. Make a craft with your child or take them to experience one of the wonders of the area. Below are my top five picks for things to do this weekend. 1. Make Valentines at Lake Accotink’s Hearts and Crafts Program. Accotink Park -Springfield Time: 10am – 12:00pm  Cost: $24 Advanced Registration Required

2.  “American Girl” Valentine Card Making Event. Perfectly Pink Parties – Occoquan Time: 10:30am – 1:30pm  Cost:$16 Space is limited to 20 girls

3. My Funny Valentine Project with Author Jamey Long. The Story Tellers Book Store –Occoquan Time: 11:00am-12:00pm: Cost $13 Ages 5 and up

The author of “A Possum’s Happy Valentine’s Day”, Jamey Long will be discussing the book and the real meaning of Valentine’s day. Each child will create a Valentine card and receive a copy of the book. www.3storytellers.com

4. In honor of Black History Month Stomp with the Lesole's Dance Project. Woodbridge, VA Time: 2:00pm – Chinn Park Regional Library

5. Celebrate the Power of Chocolate: American Indian Museum – Downtown DC Time: 10:00am – 4:30pm Cost: Free

Learn all about the power of cocoa and how it has been used in the Native American cultures. Events run all day and times vary for certain demonstrations.
