HISTORIC INTERPRETER/GUIDE NEEDED

Gunston Hall is in need of Historic Interpreters.

Interpreters enlighten the public and enhance their museum experience by providing tours and answering visitors' questions.

Duties will include:

Find out what's happening in Lortonfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Providing tours of the Mansion, outbuildings, grounds, and exhibits, focusing on George Mason and his contributions to human rights, 18th century plantation life in the Chesapeake, and the larger plantation community. Tours are every half hour, seven days a week, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Safeguarding the Mansion, outbuildings, objects and displays in order to protect the integrity of the collection.

Participating in special on-site events.

Participating in required training and professional reading program in order to increase the knowledge and understanding necessary to fulfill the above job duties.

Serving as occasional front desk receptionist for staff breaks.

Carrying out administrative, clerical, or other duties as determined by the deputy director, curator or education manager.

This is a part-time position paying $7.50 per hour.
