Mason Neck State Park's hold on 2nd place--and $50,000---is slipping. Please Vote!

As of 8 AM, July 9, MNSP is second out of 10,318 parks in the Coca Cola contest--and 2nd place is worth $50,000--but another park is gaining on us.

The other park is getting almost all its votes using a provision in the rules that allows people to vote through MapMyFitness.com, where they can cast 10 votes a day and do it retroactively to June 6. On Sunday, the other park got 98.5% of its votes from MMF, whereas Mason Neck got 72%; on Monday it was 96.9% vs. 77.1%--we can tell because the MMF votes are all recorded at about 8 PM.

We don't like the rules but since the other park is using them in this way we are asking Mason Neck supporters to do the same.

The easy way is to send an email to the MNSP supporters at voteforwildlife@gmail.com and they will take care of everything.

To do it yourself: go to coke.com/parks and sign up. Then keep that page open and click on the link to MapMyFitness and sign up there. (They ask for birth date and gender but you can fib if you don't want to give out personal info.) Then click on "Log Workout", select a date and an activity for that date--almost anything will qualify (walking, house work, biking, yard work, etc), and enter the number of minutes (at least 20). And do it for every day back through June 6 (unless maybe you stayed in bed all day).

There is also a link to FourSquare.com, where you can sign up, enter your location as Lorton, and then cast 5 votes a day (but not retroactively) by going to foursquare,com/mobile and "checking in" at Mason Neck State Park. But the key to this contest is the MMF votes.

Thank you for your support--every vote counts!
