• Haunt: Dark Encounters (ffxnow.com) — Lorton's Workhouse Arts Center is turning up the scares this October with Haunt: Dark Encounters, a haunted experience running October 3–30, 2026. Residents can brave eerie sounds, jump scares, and twisting corridors on select nights, with discounted tickets available for a limited time for those ready to test their nerves close to home.
   

• Spooky season is upon us. Here's our fearless guide. (dctheaterarts.org) — Lorton residents have two big spooky-season options right in town: the Dark Encounters haunted house and the horror-comedy musical Bat Boy, both at the Workhouse Arts Center in October. A broader regional guide also highlights Halloween-themed plays, haunted experiences, and special events across Virginia, D.C., and Maryland, offering plenty of choices for every scare level and age.
   

• Fairfax leaders hopeful two-way I-95 toll lanes plan can fix 'biggest mistake' in Va. highways (ffxnow.com) — Lorton drivers could see long-term traffic relief if a proposed $4.5 billion project converts I-95's reversible Express Lanes into two-way lanes, running continuously in both directions. Fairfax officials support the idea but warn VDOT to design it carefully so drivers don't bail off the highway and further clog Lorton's already burdened local roads.
