U.S. Marine Band Will Play in Free Concert at GMU Today
Set for 2 p.m., program will feature selections by John Philip Sousa.

The U.S. Marine Band will perform "Living History: Sousa Season Opener," in a concert today at George Mason University's Center for the Arts. The concert is free and open to the public, with no tickets required.
Located on the Fairfax campus of George Mason University at the intersection of Braddock Road and Route 123, paid parking is available in the deck adjacent to the Concert Hall and free parking is available in university Lot K. - "Overture to the Bartered Bride," composed by Bedrich Smetana
- Fantasia on Themes from Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Opus 83, composed by Carlo della Giacoma, revised and adapted by Milone (the performance will include a clarinet solo by staff Sgt. Joseph LeBlanc
- "The Colonial Dames Waltzes," by John Philip Sousa
- Suite from "Jewels of the Madonna," composed by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari, translated by Master Sgt. Donald Patterson
- Camera Studies by Sousa
- Staff Sgt. Sara Dell'Omo, a mezzo-soprano, will perform "Il Bacio," composed by Luigi Arditi, translated by Patterson
- "The Sorcerer's Apprentice," by composed by Paul Dukas, translated by Chomel
- "The Stars and Stripes Forever," march by Sousa
Founded in 1798 by an Act of Congress, “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. “The President’s Own” is celebrated for its role at the White House and its dynamic public performances. “The President’s Own” encompasses the United States Marine Band, Marine Chamber Orchestra, and Marine Chamber Ensembles, and performs regularly at the White House and for more than 500 public performances across the nation each year.
