VIDEO: Update on I-95 Express Lanes

With 80 percent of construction completed, officials from the Virginia Department of Transportation recently gave an update on progress to the I-95 Express Lanes (watch video).

If you travel I-95 as a commuter, there will be new choices coming in early 2015. Be sure to check out the FAQs here.

Here's more information from the Megaprojects Web site:

The 95 Express Lanes will keep traffic moving by using dynamic tolling that will adjust tolls based on real-time traffic conditions, video technology capable of identifying accidents, and a series of electronic signs to communicate with drivers and state troopers to ensure enforcement.

The Express lanes will help maintain travel speeds, make travel times more predictable, and significantly reduce violators.

The nearly $1 billion project is financed, constructed and operated under Virginia's Public-Private Transportation Act.
