1. New chip-enabled EBT cards arrive in Lynchburg after surge in SNAP theft (wsls.com) — Lynchburg SNAP recipients are getting new chip-enabled EBT cards in the mail that add PIN, CVV, tap-to-pay, and other security features after more than $60,000 in local benefits were stolen in August. Old gray cards will automatically expire once the new ones are issued, so residents should watch their mail, activate the replacement card, and use the ConnectEBT app to monitor October benefits, which cannot be reimbursed if stolen.

Glenn, M.Ed., criminal justice instructor (newsadvance.com) — Criminal justice instructor Kelly Glenn teaches at the University of Lynchburg, drawing on experience as a police officer, detective, and victim services coordinator.
