1 Dead, 2 Others Injured In Manassas Car Crash: Police

One man died after a car crash on Prince William Parkway in Manassas on Friday, police said. Two other people suffered minor injuries.

MANASSAS, VA — A man died after a car crash in Manassas on Friday morning, police said. Two other people suffered minor injuries.

The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

Police believe that a 2003 Toyota Sienna was travelling northbound on Prince William Parkway as it approached the Dumfries Road intersection. The driver of the Sienna disregarded a red light, police claimed.

The car struck a van that was attempting to turn left onto Prince William Parkway from Dumfries Road.

Rescue personnel responded to the scene and took the driver of the Toyota to a nearby hospital. Medical personnel believed his injuries were not life-threatening, according to the police report.

The driver of the van and a passenger in the van suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Hospital staff later determined that his injuries were more severe than they thought. They took the man to a trauma center, where he died as a result of his injuries, police said.

Police identified the driver of the Toyota as Jose Luis Robles Martinez.

Prince William County's Crash Investigation Unit is still investigating the incident. Authorities said that speed was not a factor in the crash. Anyone who may have seen the crash can contact the police department at 703-792-7000.
