1 Hospitalized After Manassas Apartment Fire: Authorities
One person was flown to a hospital after a fire in an apartment kitchen in Manassas on Wednesday evening, city officials said.
MANASSAS, VA — One person was seriously injured after an apartment fire on Jayhawk Terrace in Manassas on Wednesday evening, city officials said.
Emergency personnel flew the victim to a hospital for smoke inhalation injuries. Authorities did not provide any further information about the victim.
The fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday at an apartment in the 8500 block of Jayhawk Terrace. Intial reports described the smell of smoke and a smoke detector alarm at a neighboring apartment, authorities said.

As firefighters evacuated the building, they found the apartment where the fire originated. The door was locked, and first resonders forced their way in, according to a report from the City of Manassas.
Firefighters found the blaze in the kitchen and began to extinguish it. Meanwhile, additional first responders searched the apartment and found the victim unconcious on a bed, according to authorities.
