18-Year-Old Bristow Man Accidentally Shoots Acquaintance: Police

An 18-year-old man accidentally shot an acquaintance in the upper body at a residence in Bristow, according to police.

BRISTOW, VA — An 18-year-old man was handling a shotgun last Thursday night in a home in Bristow when he accidentally shot an acquaintance in the upper body, the Prince William County Police Department said Monday.

At around 10 p.m. Thursday, police officers went to a residence in the 12500 block of Chippenham Court in Bristow. The police found out that Brian Peter Kinsley, 18, of Bristow, earlier in the evening, had "inadvertently discharged a round that struck an acquaintance in the upper body."

The acquaintance, a 19-year-old man, was taken to an area hospital with injuries from which he is expected to survive. When he arrived at the hospital, the Prince William County police were contacted.

Kinsley was charged with reckless handling of a firearm. He was released on a court summons, with a court date set for Feb. 3, 2021.
